The Honourable Minister of Communications Barr. Adebayo Shittu has restated the Ministry’s readiness to collaborate with Swedish Government in ICT innovations within smart cities in Nigeria.
He said this in his Office when the Swedish Business Delegation to Nigeria visited him. Shittu said that this collaboration came at the right time when the Ministry has developed a new National Roadmap in line with the change mantra that would provide an integrated framework for ICT development in Nigeria.
He added that this maiden meeting with the Team Business Delegation of Sweden would focus on ICT, prioritized investment sector in Nigeria, such as mmunication Technology, Energy, Transportation, ICT infrastructure, Banking and Finance among others.
In her earlier remarks, the leader of the delegation Mrs. Ann Linde, Swedish Minister for Trade and EU Affairs thanked the Minister for granting them audience despite his tight schedule. She said this meeting is important because the collaboration would bring about sharing of ideas, knowledge and would further identify policy benefits, business opportunities, technology solutions, strategic relationship among others between the two countries.
Linde added that, this collaboration would go along way because Nigeria is the largest economy and also the fastest growing ICT market in Africa.
In her own part the Ambassador of Sweden to Nigeria Mrs. Inger Ultvedt assured the Minister of Swedish full support and preparedness of this collaboration.
The meeting was well attended by management staff of the Ministry and the Swedish Business Delegation Team.
