Nyesom Wike, Governor of Rivers, has announced the dissolution of the Caretaker Committees of 17 Local Government Areas of the state bareley 24 hours after he suspended four Commissioners.
This was disclosed on Thursday by Mr Simeon Nwakaudu, the Special Assistant on Electronic Media to the Governor, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt.
Nwakaudu said that the dissolution was with immediate effect with a directive to the affected chairmen to hand over to the most senior officials in their councils.
He identified the affected Local Government Areas as Abua/Odual, Akuku-Toru, Ahoada East, Andoni, Bonny, Eleme, Emohua, Etche and Ikwerre.
Others are Obio/Akpor, Ogu/Bolo, Okrika, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni, Omuma,Oyigbo, Port Harcourt City and Tai.
THEWILL recalls that Wike, on Wednesday, suspended four Commissioners, the Head of Service and his Special Adviser on Lands for three months.
The Governor did not, however, state the reason for the suspension.
The affected commissioners are Dr John Bazia, Chieftaincy Affairs, Mrs Tonye Briggs-Oniyide; Culture and Tourism, Fred Kpakol; Finance and Mr Boma Iyaye; Sports. Also, the Head of Service, Mr. Rufus Godwin and Mr Anugbun Onuoha, Special Adviser on Lands were also affected by the suspension.
